5 Benefits of Pomegranate for Women & How to Unlock Them

Pomegranates have become an increasingly popular fruit among Korean women over the past few years, well-loved for its tangy flavour and abundant health benefits. Sometimes regarded as a skin superfood, the unique fruit is good for women’s health, skin and digestion - among many other things.

Pomegranates are great when eaten fresh, but the most popular way to reap the benefits of this superfood in Korea is to munch on tasty supplements that have multiple benefits in one. (Hint - we’ve got some great recommendations below!

Here are some of the top benefits of pomegranate, especially for women – remember them for your next supermarket visit or purchase of health products!

Benefits of Pomegranate

Anti-inflammatory Superfood with Health Benefits

As a well-acknowledged superfood, a consistent intake of pomegranate has been shown to improve blood flow, lower blood pressure, reduce the build-up of plaque in the arteries and lower cholesterol. A healthy heart means a healthy body, so be ready to get into the habit of regularly consuming pomegranates!

The anti-inflammatory properties of pomegranate can also help protect the body against diseases like type 2 diabetes and obesity. Additionally, it’s packed full of essential vitamins ranging from vitamins C, B, K and potassium.

1. Improves Digestion

The high fibre content of pomegranates makes it an effective tool for regulating bowel movement and improving gut health. This can not only help in treating constipation and stomach discomfort, but will also reduce your risk of stomach problems and bowel diseases.

2. Increases Fertility

Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants, which will help to increase blood flow to the uterus and promote a healthy uterine lining. In addition, pomegranates contain some important vitamins, such as vitamin C, vitamin E and folic acid. All of these are beneficial for a healthy pregnancy, and for those trying to conceive.

3. Encourages Hair Growth

Growing out your hair can be difficult, especially when they end up getting tangled and split before you get to your desired length. The abundant antioxidants found in pomegranates will help strengthen your hair follicles and improve blood circulation in the scale. This will not only help your hair grow out faster, but also keeps them healthy and strong to reduce breakage.

4. Keeps Skin Hydrated & Protected

The quest for healthy skin doesn’t end at simply using the right skincare products. Pomegranates are dermatologically proven to be helpful in rejuvenating dry and dull skin, and have shown good anti-ageing effects with the reduction of dark spots and wrinkles by countering the effects of sun damage. However, this is no substitute for sun protection - keep slathering on the SPF while munching on your pomegranates!

5. Reduces Skin Inflammation & Acne

The rich antioxidants found in the fruit have an anti-inflammatory effect, which may help in reducing skin troubles like acne and eczema. The high vitamin C content in pomegranates also help in regulating the production of sebum, which is one of the main factors responsible for acne and pimples.

Additionally, pomegranates help with skin cell regeneration by increasing blood circulation, which aids your skin in the tissue repair and scar healing process.

Maximise Your Pomegranate Benefits

While it is most convenient to just purchase pre-made pomegranate juice from the supermarket and call it a day, these drinks are mostly processed and contain lots of added sugars and other ingredients. To maximise the benefits that pomegranates have to offer, healthcare professionals recommend either eating the seeds directly, or making the juice yourself and drinking it fresh.

For ultimate convenience, we recommend taking nutritional supplements made with pomegranates. These supplements also tend to come with the benefits of other healthy ingredients, allowing you to reap multiple benefits at once! In fact, pomegranate supplements are a widely popular trend in Korea, with many Korean brands developing health products that can be taken on the go and in many different forms.

The Pomegranate Collagen Jelly Sticks by Mealite pack all the goodness of pomegranates into fun sachets of jelly, which taste good and are handy to consume on-the-go. Each portion has been carefully measured-out to save you the trouble, while still making it easy to keep up with the recommended daily intake of pomegranates. Additionally, both products include added collagen, which has a long list of incredible health benefits, including improved heart, skin and bone health.

Hi there, my name is Natalie, I’m nearly 49 and am going through the start of menopause. I haven’t had a period in 5mths now (no, I’m not pregnant, I did a test just to double check). I have put on quite a bit of weight which is very depressing and my poor partner cops some random outbursts from myself with isn’t intentional. So my question in regards to pomegranate, can they help in assisting someone going through menopause
